And Still I Rise

                Maya Angelou.

Robert Henry Wahl, 50, surrendered peacefully to the heavens on August 16 in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Robert (Bobby) was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Robert Eugene Wahl and Ana-Maria Gonzalez Wahl.  He was the youngest of three children.

In his earthly life, Robert traveled widely and touched the lives of many.  He lived in Spain, Germany, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Colorado, California, D.C. and Nebraska. He was a graduate of St. Teresa’s Catholic and Overland High School in Aurora Colorado.  At Overland, he played football and excelled in history.  Robert joined the Navy for a time and later attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln Nebraska, where he earned a certificate in Information Technology.  He worked in database management for a number of organizations and also volunteered his computer expertise to the Matt Talbot Kitchen and Hispanic Community Center.

Robert had many interests and gifts.  He was a skilled athlete in his younger days, excelling in skiing and golf.  He loved fishing, boating and camping.  He was a history buff and soccer fan. He took great joy in the simple pleasures, including his car and music.  His favorite memories were those of his time growing up in Spain with his abuelos, his “cuadrilla” and long days at the beach.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his grandparents, Felix Gonzalez and Ana Roman, Mary (Wahl) Cooper, Harold Cooper and Robert H. Wahl. To whom he brought much joy. He is survived by his mother, Ana-Maria, his sisters Ana-Maria and Teresa, his brother-in-law Steve Gunkel and his longtime girlfriend, Rebecca Crawford as well as his Aunt Roslyn, Aunt Jackie, Uncle Lou, Uncle Tommy, and his many cousins from Scranton, Pennsylvania and San Sebastian, Spain. Robert will be forever remembered by those who love him for his generosity and resilience.

Robert was deeply grateful to the staff at the Lincoln Dialysis Center in Lincoln, Nebraska for the kind care they provided this past year.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Friday, August 25, 2017.  QOP is located at 13120 E. Kentucky Ave.  Aurora CO 80012.  A reception will follow in the Great Hall of the parish.
