Nancy Carol Zimmerman Narajka, 81, passed away peacefully on February 4th, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado after an extended illness. Nancy was born and raised near Lodi, Wisconsin on a dairy farm with an extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; Percy Zimmerman and Alice Brereton Zimmerman, aunt; Ione Brereton Werren, 3 sisters; Marian, Betty and Patricia and 2 brothers; Albert and David.

She is survived by her 4 children; Patricia (Helen), Gregory (Suzanne), Matthew, Jeffrey (Candice) and 3 grandchildren; Gregory, Nicholas and Ione Narajka. Additionally, she is survived by brothers Robert Zimmerman (Beverly) and George Zimmerman (Mary), nephews, nieces and cousins.

After high school, she attended Meriter School of Nursing(Madison General Hospital) in Madison, Wisconsin and continued in nursing for 40 years; working in Denver, CO and Stamford, CT. She felt a calling to nursing and insisted that anyone working with patients maintain the highest standards of patient care. Upon retirement from Stamford Hospital, she relocated to the Denver area to be near 3 of her children.

As a lover of the arts, especially music, she felt fortunate to have been given the opportunity to attend many classical concerts, operas, plays and other performances while she lived close to New York City. Nancy was a member of many chorales and singing groups over the years, including several who were invited to perform in Europe; including concerts in Italy, Germany, Russia, Poland and Scandinavia. Additionally, her love of travel and learning compelled her to travel throughout the United States, Canada and additional European countries whenever given the opportunity. She especially enjoyed the beauty of Hawaii and the colors of autumn in New England and Wisconsin.

She will always be remembered for teaching us that “people are people” and for being able to share humor always, even in difficult situations.

Per her wishes, there is no public memorial service and her final resting place will be near family in Lodi, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Project Angel Heart in Denver, Colorado: (www.projectangelheart.org).
